About the procedure

Losing excess kilogrammes causes the patient to have ugly saggy skin, which can be resolved easily with body lifting. It’s a surgical procedure, which effectively removes excess skin and subcutaneous fat in the upper region of the body – arms and breasts, mid region – tummy, and lower areas including hips, buttocks and thighs.

Body lifting is performed either in one area or along the entire body circumference. Nevertheless, it’s always performed approximately 6 months after weight loss to stabilise the weight; or ideally after 1-2 years, if the diagnosis is extreme obesity associated with hypertension, diabetes, sleep apnoea, etc. In rare cases, body lifting is also performed on women post partum, to solve the problem of loose skin and skin overhangs after repeated deliveries.

Unique and safe anaesthesia

At the Premier Clinic, we have only premium equipment. We are the only ones in the Czech Republic, who use the unique German HEYER brand anaesthesia unit, which allows for fully digital anaesthesia administration. Therefore, all anaesthesia at our clinic are performed as the so-called low-flow anaesthesia with premium anaesthetic gas. It means that waking up is far easier for the client and the unpleasant effects of anaesthesia are virtually eliminated.

The course of the procedure

Body lifting occurs in total anaesthesia and is a difficult surgery recommended only for healthy patients. Body lifting takes 1-4 hours depending on the extent of the area to be treated. Cuts are always done in such a way as to avoid unnecessary unsightly scars. Drains are inserted into the wounds and the wounds are stitched. The patient is hospitalised for approximately 1-4 days according to the extent and severity of the surgery.

Our results

Before the procedure

Body lifting is only performed on healthy patients. It isn’t recommended for patients with any kind of infection, and if the patient had a fever-related illness, body lifting is only possible about 3 weeks after that. For about a month before body lifting, it isn’t recommended to use blood clot prevention drugs containing acetylsalicylic acid.

After the procedure

Body lifting solves the aesthetic aspect of the body, the treated areas are sensitive and painful. Commonly available analgesics are recommended for pain relief. After the body lifting procedure, swelling and bruising can occur, this disappears within a few days. We recommend that you keep cooling down the treated area with ice. Rest and necessary home care is recommended for approximately 2-6 weeks, depending on the size of the treated area and the individual solution. For body lifting to be effective, it’s necessary to wear elastic compression underwear for up to 3 months. The surgery can be repeated after a while, if the patient looses even more weight. The visible effect is immediate.

Obesity is a long-term problem, sometimes linked to metabolic problems or other health problems, but excess skin is always left after massive weight loss, which needs to be removed. Body lifting can help to improve appearance and self-esteem.
