About the procedure

Argo Plasma is an innovative technology for skin tightening that represents a modern approach to addressing the issue of sagging skin without the need for extensive surgical incisions. It utilizes the synergy of radiofrequency energy and the inert gas argon to create precisely targeted plasma. This unique state of matter, generated by passing a radiofrequency current through argon, is applied to the subcutaneous layer of the skin. The application is performed using a thin, specially designed probe that is inserted under the skin through small skin incisions, usually only about 0.5 cm in size. The key to the effectiveness of Argo Plasma is its ability to selectively act on collagen fibers in the subcutaneous layer. These fibers have a lower electrical resistance than the surrounding fatty or connective tissue, and therefore preferentially absorb the plasma energy. The plasma energy causes an immediate and significant contraction of these collagen fibers. This process leads to a noticeable tightening of the skin immediately after the procedure. In addition to this immediate effect, the plasma also stimulates fibroblasts, the cells responsible for the production of collagen and elastin. This initiates a natural regeneration process that leads to the gradual formation of new, higher-quality collagen and elastin in the following weeks and months. This long-term process further improves the firmness, elasticity, and overall quality of the skin. The technology is suitable for addressing sagging skin after significant weight loss, after liposuction, after pregnancy, or due to the natural aging process when the skin loses its natural elasticity. The argon gas also serves as a cooling medium that protects surrounding tissue from excessive heat, increasing the safety of the procedure and minimizing the risk of complications. The result is a firmer, smoother, and more youthful appearance of the treated area with minimal scarring and faster recovery compared to traditional surgical methods.

Course of treatment

The procedure is performed under local or general anesthesia. The doctor first makes small incisions (approximately 0.5 cm in size) in the areas through which the probe will be inserted. The number of incisions depends on the size of the treated area. A thin probe is then carefully inserted into the subcutaneous tissue. The doctor moves it in a fan-like motion to ensure an even application of argon plasma on the target area beneath the skin. The plasma energy causes an immediate contraction of collagen fibers and initiates the tissue regeneration process.

Before the procedure

Before the actual Argo Plasma procedure, a consultation with a qualified physician is essential. During the consultation, the doctor will assess the condition of your skin, discuss your expectations and goals with you, explain the entire course of the procedure, possible risks, and recommend whether Argo Plasma is a suitable method for you. It may also be advised to discontinue certain medications or adjust your lifestyle prior to the procedure.

After the procedure

Immediately after the Argo Plasma procedure, you may observe the first signs of skin shutdown. Swelling, bruising, or mild tenderness may appear in the treated area, which will gradually subside over the course of several days to weeks. The recovery period is individual. It is important to follow your doctor’s instructions regarding incision care and any necessary use of compression garments. The final and complete results of the procedure will develop gradually over several weeks to months as collagen regeneration occurs.
